Just in time for the holidays, we're excited to announce the release of our 2022 Line of Harrison Ciders made from the historic Harrison Apple that was the foundation of early America's renowned Newark Cider. This is a project ten years in the making, beginning in 2012 as Ironbound Founder and CEO Charles Rosen joined a team of apple hunters and historians to bring back this beloved cider apple from near extinction.

Ironbound Newark Cider 10.1% ALC/VOL
To create this modern version of Newark Cider, we've used a blend of three 18th century Newark apples: Canfield, Graniwinkle, and the legendary Harrison. This aromatic dry cider carries notes of pear and peach, giving way to a long, clean finish with just a hint of vanilla.
Newark Cider Royal 18.5% ALC/VOL
To add heft and richness to their beloved Newark hard cider, farmers historically added applejack and then barrel aged the liquid to create Cider Royal—America’s first cocktail. In reviving this early American tavern staple, we blend naturally fermented, pure Harrison cider with applejack, which is then barrel aged for a year in toasted oak, melding the flavors while adding complexity and depth. The result is a creamy, mouth-filling elixir with aromas of fresh-crushed apples and just-sawn oak, and the flavor of crisp new apples balanced by brilliant acidity, refined tannic structure, and a long, sublime finish.
Harrison’s Sparkling Newark Cider 11.5% ALC/VOL
This unique single-varietal sparkling cider is made from 100% Harrison apples and bottle fermented to create a complex, well-structured naturally sparkling cider with notes of pear and tangerine—and just a hint of funk—giving way to a long, clean finish.
These ciders are a must for holiday gatherings and will only be available for purchase on site. They will also be available on our weekend drink menu for guests to enjoy while visiting the Ciderhouse.
